Mother Nature says "No go!"

So, we left for the airport today at about 3:30pm for our 6:10 flight. I checked the United website before we left, and our flights were on time, but with the blizzard in Colorado, you never know. Slight mist and some fog, but nothing major. Got a good spot in long term parking. Hardly any people in line at the United counter. But, as I searched the monitor, I saw CANCELLED, CANCELLED, CANCELLED. Uh oh. But wait! Our flight wasn't cancelled! It was just delayed. No problem!

Yeah, right.

We get our turn at the counter, and the agent checks the computer. Yup, our flight to Chicago is delayed. But our next leg, to Albany, is already cancelled! ARGH! Bad weather in Chicago and on the East coast. OK, so what flight can we get out on next? From Lincoln, our next option is on the 24th. Yup, the day before Christmas.

But there is still hope! If we drive up to Omaha, we can go tomorrow night. Yea!

So, we're back home tonight. All packed up and no where to go. John is mopey. He wants to be in NY already. I think it is nice to have one relaxing night before all the craziness starts up again.

The next time you hear from me, it should be from NY!

This is what happens when your mom sends you a year's worth of care packages all at once:

Is it Valentines? Halloween? Scarry Valentines?

...just for a bit.

I wanted to share our delicious Thanksgiving dinner.

The whole spread

Click on the picture to see what we had.

Thanks to Mom sending me some of my Pfaltzgraff dishes that I got last Christmas, this is the first time that everything was on Jamberry! Yea! Of course, Pfaltzgraff has since retired my pattern, so it's going to be very hard to get anymore Jamberry additions. I just hope that they will make it into a By Request pattern.

Here's a better picture of the TWENTY POUND TURKEY! Poor thing barely fits on the platter.

(Roast Turkey with Rosemary-Garlic Crust. Turkey was rubbed with a mixture of 4 sticks of butter, 2 heads of garlic and 1 cup of fresh rosemary.)

And you won't believe what I heard! On the Wednesday after Thanksgiving, after six straight days of turkey, John actually said "I think I'm getting sick of turkey". Gasp!! Can you believe it? Ha! That's what he gets for picking out a 20 pound turkey. He promised that next year the bird will only be 15 pounds. We'll see.

So, we made the leftover turkey we still had into Turkey a la King on Wednesday, and Turkey Manicotti on Thursday. Then we had Taco Bell on Friday. We ate the last scraps of the turkey on Saturday. It's finally over!

And John can't wait till next year. ;)

I know I haven't posted about our 20 pound turkey Thanksgiving dinner (just ate the last of the turkey today) or my floaty pen project (a little bit behind schedule). But I had to get this out first.....

The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines premiers tonight!

Yes, the first one (The Librarian: Quest for the Spear) was ridiculous and campy, but oh so much fun too. You just can't beat Bob Newhart kicking ass and taking names! Makes me proud to be a librarian.

So, I will be curling up on the couch with my popcorn to watch tonight. Will it be Colby Ridge Salt & Vinegar, cheesy from Mom, or Screaming Yellow Zonkers (also from Mom)? What do kick-ass librarians prefer??
